Sid Bachrach, the author of So Sweet as Honey was born on March 4th 1955, the third generation of his family that was born in the United States. After graduating from the University of Chicago in 1976 and teaching a year in Chicago, he left the U.S. in 1977 to teach at Jerusalem’s Experimental High School. In 1983 he returned with his family to live in Europe and in 1984 was one of the founders of the Dutch Peace, Ecological and Cultural Center: the Weyst. Sid Bachrach continues to live there carrying out the tasks of organic gardener and baker, supervisor of clients via the social service sanctions of alternative punishment and host for the many groups and weekend guests the Weyst receives. In addition he is a part time teacher at the International School of Eindhoven, the Netherlands.
